Measurements

1. Which international standards does Micro-Poise follow for tire testing?

Micro-Poise adheres to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards for tire uniformity testing. These globally recognized standards ensure consistency, reliability, and accuracy in tire performance evaluation, aligning with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
For more details on specific standards or compliance documentation, please contact our technical support team.

2. What are the standard measuring speeds for Micro-Poise systems?

    • Uniformity & Geometry: 60 RPM
    • Balancer: 300 RPM (PCR), 250 RPM (TBR)
These speeds are fixed and cannot be modified.

3. Why does Micro-Poise specify repeatability for only one tire size?

Our specifications are based on a single tire size for consistency and standardization with a commonly used size throughout the industry.

4. Does Micro-Poise guarantee reproducibility or correlation between machines?

No, Micro-Poise does not guarantee machine-to-machine correlation. While our equipment is engineered for high precision and repeatability within individual machines, achieving consistent results across multiple machines is inherently complex and influenced by numerous variables.
For customers requiring high consistency across multiple machines, we recommend:
• Using standardized calibration routines.
• Consulting with Micro-Poise technical experts to align configurations and optimize performance.

5. What is Conicity as measured on a force variation machine?

When a tire is inflated, loaded, and rotated on a force variation machine, a significant average lateral force can be measured.  Part of this lateral force will change lateral direction with rotation direction and part of this lateral force will remain consistent regardless of the rotation direction of the tire.  Conicity, which represents the "conical" shape/nature of the tire being measured, is the average lateral force that does NOT change lateral direction with tire rotation.

6. What is the Conicity Bias value of a force variation machine and why is it important?

Due to numerous physical characteristics of any force variation measurement machine (such as tire position on the loadwheel, alignment of primary and loadwheel spindle axes, loadcell alignments, loading force, etc.) a non-zero bias force may exist and create inaccurate Conicity measurements.  This bias value must be measured using a straightforward process for each tire type and stored in the system to compensate for this bias enabling the machine to provide accurate Conicity measurements.

7. Does Micro-Poise offer radial runout grinding solutions?

Yes, Micro-Poise provides RRO grinding solutions. We offer both center and shoulder grinders designed to improve radial runout performance. For more details on available configurations or to request a quote, please contact our sales team.
