Tire Trivia Answer: In 1964 the world’s largest tire was built for the New York Worlds Fair. It was 80 feet in diameter, weighed 12 tons and had a 6 inch deep tread. The tire was dismantled into 188 sections and shipped by train to Allen Park, Michigan. The Tire has been RECONDITIONED several times: In 1994 a new hubcap was added; 1998 an 11 foot high, 500 pound nail was added to the tire to promote Uniroyals “Nailguard” tires; 2003 the nail was removed and another $1 million renovation to the tire was done. http://www.tire-information-world.com/tire-trivia-worlds-biggest-tire.html
Micro-Poise Measurement Systems does not RECONDITION “80 foot Loadwheels”.
