Dynamic Balance
Tire Balance Systems

The AkroDYNE Tire Dynamic Balance System assures tire quality by measuring, grading, marking and sorting tires for dynamic imbalance , which includes static and couple, as well as upper and lower plane imbalance. Tires are measured while inflated and rotating. Micro-POise dynamic balancers use a "hard bearing" system controlled by stable, microprocessor-based, primarily digital electronics that can be calibrated for all production tires, regardless of weight.
Static Imbalance can be caused by a number of factors including a heavy or light spot on the tire tread, creating disturbances such as tire bounce, a condition that induces an up and down force into the vehicle with each tire rotation. The forces become larger at highway speeds. Couple Imbalance occurs when tire mass is unevenly distributed on the two sides of the tire. This might be caused by a treadand belt package that is perpendicular to the tire centerline.Couple imbalance can contribute to steering wheel vibrations and vehicle virations. The forces caused by couple imbalance also become larger at highway speeds. Upper and Lower Plane Imbalanceis the amount of weight required to correct for both staic and couple imbalance of the tire. |
